In the early stages of RuneScape, rather than banishment from the game for a player who broke the rules, they were sent to a black hole. Some rule-abiding players wanted to see this black hole, so they purposely broke the rules. Disc of Returning was added so players could visit the black hole by buying a disk for 10gp, and spinning it. The spin option and black hole were removed due to people becoming stuck.
